bblogoAt the start of each new year, the OHM staff like to sit and reflect on the year before, and set intentions for the year ahead. Here’s a taste of what we’ve been thinking about as we plan for the future!

Tammy Thompson- Family Care Coordinator

What was the most exciting/memorable thing about 2016? This year was the first full year of the Circles model being used as OHM’s Family Care strategy. The increased capacity that is allowed us has been very exciting to see.

What is one of your 2017 work resolutions? In 2017 I am resolving to get more organized and be better at managing my time more efficiently.

What is one of your goals for OHM in 2017? My goal is to help two families move into responsible home ownership.

Tim Raufer- Construction Coordinator

What was the most exciting/memorable thing about 2016? I will remember 2016 for the turbulence that marked the first part of the year: the stress of selling my home inspection business, the uncertainty of what new work I would find, and the relief and excitement to wind up in an organization that I had cared so deeply about. My official start date on May 1 holds a special place in my mind.

What is one of your 2017 work resolutions? I am intent on making our current gut/remodel job so clean that ‘you could eat off the floor’. I want our volunteers, subcontractors, and supporters to walk through the door and see a clean, well-lit, organized, inviting, and even fun! place to work.

What is one of your goals for OHM in 2017? Building the addition on the rear of our current gut/remodel. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background – seeing the frame rise from the foundation, and take shape as it becomes a house is such a universal and tangible marker of our work.

Jodi Salant- Communications Coordinator

What was the most exciting/memorable thing about 2016? 2016 was my first full year with OHM! I think one of the most exciting things for me has been forming more meaningful relationships with the families.

What is one of your 2017 work resolutions? I have a few.. But most of them boil down to resolving to keep my desk clear (Keeping up with filing, planning my time efficiently, etc.)

What is one of your goals for OHM in 2017? In 2016 we invested in a constituent database. My goal for 2017 is to incorporate that into our daily work in a way that helps keep us organized, and helps us to improve our communication with volunteers, donors, and families.

Michael Stanton, Executive Director

What was the most exciting/memorable thing about 2016? The most memorable thing about 2016 will be seeing our 12th first time home buyer close on her house.

What is one of your 2017 work resolutions? I resolve to continue to improve in my ability to equip and support Open Hand’s wonderful staff to succeed in serving our families and community.

What is one of your goals for OHM in 2017? My goal for 2017 is to continue to build the foundation of OHM as a sustainable organization.
