PGH Racial Wealth Gap

Wealth, more so than income, reflects opportunity, stability and power. This extreme discrepancy is a problem we can’t ignore. Why does this disparity exist?  We, at OHM, categorically dismiss the notion that it is the result of a racial hierarchy.

Research probing the causes of the racial wealth gap has traced its origins to historic injustices from slavery, to segregation, and to redlining. For 350 out of the 400 years of black-white race relations in our nation, blacks have been legally prevented from accumulating wealth.  Racial inequality remains in American society and politics today - join us in bridging the divide.
